Introduction to Water Skills* (No Prerequisites)

Skills


  • Enter water using ramps, steps or side
  • Exit water using ladder, steps or side
  • Blow bubble for 3 seconds
  • Submerge mouth, nose and eyes
  • Open eyes under water and retrieve submerged objects
  • Front glide and recover to a vertical position
  • Back glide and recover to a vertical position
  • Back float for 5 seconds
  • Roll from front to back and back to front
  • Treading water arm and hand actions
  • Alternating and simultaneous leg actions and arm actions on back
  • Combined arm and leg actions on front
  • Combined arm and leg actions on back

Exit Skills


With Support to go to the next level

  • Enter independently, travel at least 5 yards, bob 5 times, then safely exit the water.
  • Glide on front at least 2 body lengths,roll to a back float for 5 seconds, and recover to a vertical position.

*Level 1 skills may be performed with support
